When you find a way to combine your experience, interests, and passion for helping others into a new endeavor, you know you have done something right. Christine Kosakowski, a Madison mother of four, and her sister-in-law (and former Madison resident) Lisa DeFranco, have recently co-founded The Pink Pear, LLC (www.thepinkpear.org), a new online boutique that offers fun and quality products, and even same-day pick up if you are local to Madison. But what makes this online shopping experience unique is that a portion of every sale goes to a selected charity. Over the past year, The Pink Pear has raised over $2,000 for individuals and organizations in need. I asked Christine to tell A Madison Mom a bit more about The Pink Pear.
Tell us a little about The Pink Pear.
The Pink Pear is an online boutique that makes helping others easy. It combines shopping for fun products and fundraising into a successful result for everyone. The Pink Pear was founded by two moms to help individuals and groups in need of assistance in raising funds, such as medical, athletics, or personal. We choose our recipients based on their needs and our ability to support those needs. Customers can help their favorite cause at no extra cost to them. If you want to know how to raise money for your favorite charity, The Pink Pear, LLC is your answer.
Who founded The Pink Pear?
The Pink Pear was founded by Christine Kosakowski and her sister-in-law, Lisa DeFranco. Christine is a Madison mother of four, and Lisa, a mother of 2, is a former Madison resident now residing in North Carolina. We combined our passion tor helping others and our retail experience to create this business.
When and why did you decide to start The Pink Pear?
We decided to start The Pink Pear, LLC a few years ago after seeing that a local little boy needed help raising funds for a therapy dog. We wanted to create a place that people could go to purchase fun items AND be able to help those in need. The Pink Pear was officially launched in November 2016.
Please tell us a little about your products.
We look for products that are both fun and practical. We carry gifts for infants through adults, including games, books, accessories, home goods, and handmade items. It is a great place to purchase holiday and birthday gifts, hostess gifts, and more! If you are local to Madison, you can even pick up the same day!
Please tell us about the charities you choose to support, and how you select them.
We choose our charities by their needs and our ability to help them. We have helped both individuals and organizations. We have worked with the Marfan Syndrome and Down Syndrome communities, as well as The Thursday Morning Club, which is the organization that runs the Madison Community House. Right now we are assisting a little boy named Henry who is six years old and suffering from Neuroblastoma. If an individual or group is in need of financial help, they can email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
What is the best part of starting your business?
