Hello and welcome, everyone! My name is Danielle Vintschger, and I will be your style author here at A Madison Mom. A little about me, and then we’ll get down to business.
I’m on the cusp of 40, (give me that year in between!) I live in Madison, grew up in Morristown and have lived in major cities throughout the country. In my early 20s I was briefly an actress and model in NYC, and learned everything I know about style from the pros. Although I didn’t pursue the industry full time, my love for off the wall fashion and various styles of beauty has endured.
After I left the industry, I worked in child care and received my Master’s degree in social work. I am a freelance writer specializing in pop culture, fashion and beauty, and humor. I am also a proud mental health advocate. As you can see, I dabble in a lot of subjects, but here at A Madison Mom, we’re going to focus on style.
I love fashion and beauty, and I also love a budget. Well, I don’t love budgets as much as I have one, and I definitely have to stick with it. During my adult life, I found I loved doing hair, makeup, and funky clothing styles that defy age normalities and conventions. Dress my age? I do not think so! Now you’re not going to see my 39 year old tush in a pair of booty shorts, but I am all for finding your own style and playing with it.
Do you like snappy outfits appropriate for work, but paired with a fabulous pair of shoes? Embrace that and have fun! Make that boring office remember you as the confident person you are. More funky? Now we’re talking my language. There are loads of places to find a cool vintage piece to wear with jeans that elevate your style. Are you looking at this with tears of laughter, as your child wipes their nose on your t-shirt for the thirtieth time today? I hear you. Casual, affordable clothes are nothing to be ashamed of, and I will make a Target run with you any day.
As for hair and makeup, it’s perfectly valid if you never wear makeup and your hair is in a messy ponytail every day. We can talk moisturizer or a fun new hair product you can try during your lightning fast shower. Feeling a little more adventurous? Please. I can talk about the differences between shades of red lipstick and if argon oil is all it’s cracked up to be all day. And as always, BUDGET. True story: I buy all my makeup at Walgreens. Yep, the place off of Main Street. They have a great, affordable selection of makeup and hair products that won’t break the bank. And if you want to throw caution to the wind and go high end? I’ll take you to Sephora and we can have a grand time.
Look for fun tutorials, makeup and hair care reviews, and discussion of the hottest trends right here with me. Let’s get fabulous, people!
